Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC)
Challenge
The Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) Halifax Chapter is hosting the national conference in 2015. Strathdee&Co. was contracted to support the IPAC 2015 National Conference (Halifax) Organizing Committee in identifying the strategic positioning considerations necessary for the successful management and delivery of the conference. The goals were to
- Promote Halifax as the “must-attend” conference for public administration professionals in 2015
- Highlight key strategic partners for conference and social, cultural and family programming
- Identify strategic communications and promotional activities leading up to the 2015 Halifax conference
Solution
The methodology involved positioning the conference, understanding the key motivators for people travelling to conferences, identifying challenges and how to navigate them effectively, and how to attract the greatest number of attendees based on the motivators. Additionally, working with the Committee, Leanne made introductions to key strategic partners, identified existing resources, sourced programming opportunities and delivered the final report, on time, and on budget.
Results
The final report:
- Highlighted messages to be delivered, and proposed a format and style likely to have the greatest impact. It also recommended additional promotional tools that would appropriately augment the message.
- The report identified potential opportunities for promotional partnerships with other organizations.
- Provided an overview of recommendations and identified the steps required to carry out strategic promotional activities for the 2015 IPAC National Conference in Halifax, including the promotional activities to occur at the 2014 IPAC National Conference in Edmonton.
